About Comicsburgh

Comicsburgh is a vibrant collective of comic book publishers based in Pittsburgh, PA, which currently consists of Marvin Wynn (The Edge), Grant Lankard (Beowulf, Memoirs of the Morbid, League of Cryptids), D.P. Brown (Theme of Thieves) and Manny Theiner (Heroineburgh comics and TV series).

The term "Comicsburgh" began in 2021 as a series of videos showcasing Pittsburgh comics creators and comic stores on the Heroineburgh Youtube channel, and grew organically into a group of like-minded comics creators who share the burden of costs such as vendor tables, travel, and promotion. Similar in structure to the legendary Image Comics, each creator runs their studio to make their creator-owned content. As Comicsburgh, the four creators have been active across the Western PA region, as well as all around the Midwest and East Coast at various comic conventions, spreading the word of comic book creation in Pittsburgh through interactive panel presentations and making tons of fans. The publications of Comicsburgh are available in thousands of comic shops around North America, both through the established Diamond distribution service and directly to the shop owners themselves.

The creators of Comicsburgh promote comic book creation for both educational and artistic purposes, and they work with aspiring creators who are also committed to that same goal. While promoting our own product, we provide the added benefit of advice and consultation through panel discussions at conventions with our informative “From Script to Store” panel, which takes a creator with an idea through their journey all the way to stocking their book in stores, for those who don't have the benefit of working for DC, Marvel, or the large indies.

Comicsburgh has been featured in the Pittsburgh Post GazetteVisit Pittsburgh, and several comic publications, and the creators have done Comicsburgh signing tours through comic shops in the tri-state region. We host comic book release parties for our products, we produce live-action video content with our Heroineburgh TV shows, and we maintain a vibrant online presence. The Pittsburgh region has a ton of talent, and we want to show the world that our city is known for much more than just "Pirates, Penguins and pierogies" - it's also the home of Comicsburgh!
